I am a freelance theatre director working in the United Kingdom, Amsterdam and the United States.
I have experience directing new writing, modern classics, opera and devised work. My current interest lies in helping new writers develop their work by working closely with character and story development.
My life in the theatre began when I studied classical music, performance and drama at a young age. I started directing in my second year at Baldwin-Wallace College in the United States, and defining my craft during my time studying modern theatre and devising at the University of Hull, Scarborough in the UK, finally receiving an MA in Directing from St Mary’s College in London. After a move to Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2011, I have started Orange Tea Theatre Company, which specializes in reading and performing modern theatre in English.
I have had the pleasure of working in wonderful venues around England, America and The Netherlands including the Battersea Arts Centre, New End Theatre, The Old Red Lion, Tristan Bates, Arcola, Diana Wortham Theatre, and Mezrab Cultural Centre.
Recommendations
"Lora assisted on the production of Mr Maugham at Home and was just invaluable. She was utterly committed and dealt with everything that was thrown at her. A very safe pair of hands."--Tony Smee, Actor in Mr Maugham at Home
“Lora is an excellent director and excels in developing new writing. Her visions are exciting. She is not only fun, but very easy to work with. She is committed to the text, and is always organized and ready to try new things. She has workshopped and directed both of my plays, “Gynotime,” and “Phyllis.” She has script edited, and helped developed my full length, “Egg,” and was a pivotal part in it’s final product. Lora was able to help me find my voice through her directing and character development skills. She has an excellent eye for script editing and working through fine-tuning a story. Lora is an excellent director, and would undoubtably recommend her as a colleague, director, and theatre professional.”--Sarah Kosar, Playwright
“Lora was exciting to work with on a new writing theatre production! She skillfully fleshed out the play and brought it to life to the delight of the playwrite and all of us in the cast. Would love to work with her again!!”--Stacy Keogh, Actress in Egg and Drama Practioner

Stag
This October I will be directing the premiere of Stag, a darkly comic drama about a stag night in eastern Europe that goes disastrously wrong. Two friends, John and Davvo, are reunited in the same dilapidated ex-Soviet city where they worked together as teachers a decade before. While John teeters on the brink of comfortable marriage, best man Davvo has chosen a life of free-wheeling debauchery. But they find the city where their friendship blossomed has been transformed from romantic decay to soulless conformity. And it’s not just the city that’s changed in the intervening years.
Over the course of an evening, they probe each others’ insecurities, finally agreeing to spend a lost weekend together, during which their friendship is tested to crisis point.
Stag will be on from 10-16 October at the Courtyard Theatre in Hoxton. Go here for tickets and more info www.thecourtyardtheatre.org.uk
